Recordings into text, on your own Mac.
Drop in an interview, a meeting or a lecture. Murko writes down who said what, makes a short summary with tasks, and lets you fix every line. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Your recordings never leave your Mac
Interviews, medical notes, business calls: what people say in a recording is private. Murko is built so that it stays with you.
Everything runs on your Mac
Speech recognition (Parakeet and Whisper), speaker separation (Senko) and the summary model (Gemma) all run on your own computer. No file is uploaded, ever.
Offline after setup
The internet is used once, during installation, to download the models. After that you can transcribe with Wi‑Fi switched off.
No account, no tracking
Murko has no sign-up, no analytics and no ads. It does not send usage data anywhere.
Your files, your folder
Transcripts are ordinary files in Documents/CallsRawFiles (or a folder you choose). Delete a transcript and it goes to the Trash like any other file.
Originals are never changed
Murko works on a copy of your recording. The file you dropped in stays exactly as it was.
Easy to remove
The uninstaller moves Murko and its models to the Trash and keeps your transcripts, so you decide what happens to them.
Speak your language
Murko transcribes these languages, each one checked in testing:
The app itself has an interface in English, Ukrainian, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish and Arabic.

Good to know
Does Murko send my audio to a server?
No. Everything runs on your Mac: speech recognition (Parakeet and Whisper via Apple’s MLX), speaker separation and the summary model (Gemma, run by Ollama). The internet is used only to download these during installation.
How long does a transcription take?
It depends on the Mac and the model: Parakeet is the fastest, Whisper Large is the most careful and several times slower. The summary and text polishing add extra time; tick “Text only” to skip them.
Something went wrong during installation. What now?
Run the installer again: it skips the finished steps and continues where it stopped. The full log is in ~/Library/Logs/MurkoTranscriberInstall.log.
Which files can I use?
Most audio and video files: m4a, mp3, wav, aac, flac, ogg, opus, aiff, mp4, mov, mkv and webm.
Where are my transcripts?
In Documents/CallsRawFiles. Each recording gets a folder with Transcript.txt and Summary.md. You can choose another folder in Settings.
How do I remove Murko?
Run Uninstall Murko Transcriber.command from the same zip. It removes the app and its tools; your transcripts stay where they are.
